Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Technician with extensive experience in installing, terminating, and testing structured cable in commercial environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, implementing, and planning Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), wireless, wired, and voice telecommunication systems. Knowledge of BICSI guidelines is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install voice and data cables, including Cat 5e, Cat 6a, and fiber optic.
• Terminate and test horizontal copper (Cat 5e, Cat 6a) and fiber cables.
• Install patch panels, interior conduit, Panduit, and Wiremold.
• Label and test horizontal cables.
• Read, interpret, and understand plans and specifications.
• Install backbone and riser cables (copper & fiber), plywood, racks, and cable trays in TC, MDF, and IDF.
• Assist in OSP (outside plant) installations and perform Operational Risk Management Briefings.
• Mentor and supervise apprentices, ensuring a focus on safety, quality, production, and schedule.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in the commercial communications industry.
• Experience in room build-outs, Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic termination.
• Ability to interpret and maintain drawings and as-builts, and troubleshoot/repair copper/fiber optic cabling.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license.
• Pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work in Houston and surrounding areas.
• Flexible schedule availability.

Physical Abilities:

• Lift up to 75 pounds and relocate a 10-12 foot stepladder.
• Work at heights up to 60 feet, climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
• Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, turn, twist, crawl, squat, walk, climb, push, pull, and reach overhead repetitively.
• Possess good vision and the ability to distinguish colors.
• Understand and communicate in English at a minimum conversational level.
• Meet all OSHA safety requirements.
