Overview of the Role: This management level position is responsible for overseeing the corporate Biological/Mechanical Laboratory and its staff with responsibility for the facility and resident test systems. This position is responsible for ensuring a highly effective environment which meets the varied testing needs (vertebrate & invertebrate, mechanical, electrical, durability) of the broad Woodstream product portfolio while maintaining a high level of safety and cleanliness. This position is also responsible for directing and prioritizing the workflow through the lab as well as assisting Lititz Quality and production support. In addition to managerial duties, this position is also responsible for executing typical lab work activities such as research studies, technology development, new and competitive product evaluations, statistical analysis, authoring high quality technical reports, assisting engineering with establishing product specifications, and developing test protocols.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities: - Regular attendance and punctuality required
- Oversee Chemical/Biological lab facility and manage workflow
- Manage animal lab safety program.
- Provide leadership and development to junior technicians and scientists
- Ensure proper equipment maintenance and calibration
- Responsible for ensuring timely and appropriate QC and Lititz production support
- Ensure proper chemical and sample storage and disposal
- Ensure ethical and approved housing, rearing, and testing practices are followed.
- Assist engineering and project teams in formulating and creating new products
- Actively seek out and evaluate innovative new products/ideas/technologies
- Form network of researcher, suppliers, and inventors
- Coordinate relevant 3 rd party testing
- Develop and document test protocols/SOPs
- Performs other duties as assigned
Successful Candidate Profile: - Bachelor degree or greater in Biology, Entomology, or STEM related field with minimally 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to Pest Management products & testing
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Positive attitude; ability to work positively with others
